This story is set in Paris but could have been set anywhere in the world and it would still resonate. The truth of the characters makes it an engrossing read.

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is an interesting and informative read. I never knew about HeLa cells, where they originated and how they were obtained. Read this book if you are interested in history and are looking for a book that tells a story as well as makes you think.

About Me

I am an avid reader and always have been, as far back as I can remember. Growing up I would devour a book, sometimes two, a day. This sorely tried the patience of my mother who would be wanting me to finish one chore or another; and my father, who, having waited to get into the lone bathroom for long minutes, sometimes close to an hour, would see me sauntering out with a book in hand.

Grown up now, where grown up means I have the responsibilities of a career and mortgage, I no longer have those endless hours free for reading enjoyment. Nevertheless, I still manage to get in about an hour per day. Usually right before I fall asleep, stealing that hour when I probably should already be sleeping to rejuvenate myself for that career that will help kill the mortgage. A defensible theft as reading rejuvenates beautifully.
